PROGRAM

The event will focus on multi-cultural, multi-religious issues experienced in supervisory practice that impacts issues of diversity, cultural uniqueness and curriculum development.  There will be international, western USA and Hawai’i colleagues in Spiritual Care and Education presenting opportunities to discuss unique supervisory situations taking advantage of the contextual setting in Hawai’i and the Asia Pacific.  A delegation from Hong Kong SAR China will be participating in the program.

Each participant will experience shared practice sessions in which panels of ACPE Certified Educators along with Hawai’i religious leaders, education specialists, cultural practitioners and international guests will “talk story” and learn from each other’s experience.

Additionally, there will a day long tour with opportunities to encounter clergy at the main Buddhist temple, discuss multi-cultural education with university educators, encounter an ancient Hawaiian cultural site, meet Polynesian educational and health practitioners, and share a meal (a luau) local style – on the beach, at the cultural site, music from local group, Hawaiian teachers and plenty of local food.
